The Mandal Controversy - And I Support That Revolution:
There were tens of millions crying for their lessening of a bright future
And
There were hundreds of millions crying for not getting the most fundamental position in the society....
It was anybody's guess who out of the two were the more needy...
---
Indeed, the implementation of the Mandal Commission report was the most socially radical step taken in the independent India.....
It was not exactly a revolution.. But it commenced the great social resolution...
----
Pre-Mandal days were classey, harmonious, liberal, sophisticated, perhaps they were like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru...
After Mandal, things became more realistic, tougher, challenging and more extracting. Actually, it was from then that the society actually started working on its mission...
----
They say Mandal is killing the merit..
I would say who will kill the massive eco-social divide which exists between the two parts....
------
The ugly manifestations of caste system are not pancake, that they will be made soon and done with....
A socio-economic reality which has created massive complexities for several millenia can't be resolved even in 50 to 100 years...
---
I understand your frustration of not getting a deserving job...
But I can see their depression more on not getting anything in life...
---
Yes, Mandal is changing India, despite a few drawbacks and mishaps...
---
Mandal is not so much about destroying poverty. It is more about making us richer as a society...
---
They had said that Mandal will disintegrate India and they themselves are disintegrated badly...
----
Some say Mandal has rightly ended the anti-equality, upper caste raj...
---
What disparity they took about in the cut off marks for admissions of the two groups into colleges and services..
It's not happening in so many areas so much. And even if it's happening at some places, it is the cost which we have to pay for bringing full equality in the society...
----
I feel so good, over three decades of Mandal's existence has changed the society so well...
---
What equality you talk about without Mandal? There is neither equality in the society nor in your minds...
---
Those who oppose Mandal implementation so ferociously and fervently should also think about the larger society, sensibly and sensitively....
----
I had seen that movie on Mangal Pandey. I had heard that song 'Mangal, Mangal, Mangal, Mangal...
That song of this revolutionary historical character was reverberating in my imagination...
But there was one minor difference...What was sounding in my mind was...'Mandal, Mandal, Mandal, Mandal....
